A group of dedicated people in the Chinese Association of Columbia (CAC) are applying for Federal and State grants to open a bilingual (English and Chinese) charter school for the Greater Columbia Area for grades k-8. This school would be the first to offer formal elementary and middle school education in both English and Chinese. The school is open to public for enrollment and the students are not required to be fluent in Chinese. The curriculum will meet the State's requirement. One of our goals is by the time of graduation, the studnets will not only be academically competitive to graduates of any other schools from the state of South Carolina, but they will also be fluent in Chinese. Our attempt has received firm support from top education officials in the State education authority as well as experts in the field. Hense our chances of getting governmental (federal and state) funding are very high. If funded, this would be the first school established with the support of the Chinese community in the State of South Carolina. We need your support letters as part of the application process. So please help us by completing the following survey. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Richard Cheng, M.D., Ph.D. on behalf of Eastpoint Academy & CAC Board
